Finkins Shepshed is a family run coffee shop, located at 13 Market Place, Shepshed, Leicestershire. They were previously located at 37 Hall Croft, which is now occupied by Mandala Therapies, who specialise in deep tissue massage, pain management and holistic therapies.
The new premises at 13 Market Place has provided them with a beautiful, smart space with around 12-14 tables, plus a log burner seating area for coffee in the winter. It is also fully Air-conditioned with Customer Wifi. 13 Market Street is much larger than Hall Croft, so it has allowed for many more customers to sit in.
The new premises has proven to be very popular. They have many fantastic reviews and are always busy from opening to close. On the occasions we have visited so far, we do like to go early as we have a pushchair with us, it just allows us to have a bit more room. Although it is not an issue if it was busy as the pushchair can easily be folded and put under the table, if one of the other chairs around the table are moved. You can also reserve a table in advance.
My go to breakfast from Finkins is the Eggs Royale. It’s not something I would ever make at home so it’s nice to have it out as a treat! For £7.95, you get a toasted muffin with 2 poached eggs, smoked salmon, rocket salad and hollandaise sauce, which is very good value. Chris will always order the Eggs Benedict which is also £7.25. Ted has been enjoying his tea cakes and a fruit shoot. It’s now our favourite place to have breakfast out.
We have also tried several of the cakes, which have always been delicious! Whether it’s just a slice of cake and coffee or sit down breakfast, the food and atmosphere have always been excellant. It can become very busy, very quickly, however the staff work so hard to get the food out to you as quickly as they can. The staff are learning to adapt to a busier location with more customers and have always been quick to rectify any mistakes they make.
Other items on the menu include omelettes, jacket potatoes, salad bowls, toasties, breakfast wrap, breakfast plate, vegan breakfast plate, eggs on toast, coffee frappes, fruit smoothies and much more, all at a very reasonable price.
The staff are really friendly and the food was on point. Nowhere around Shepshed does eggs Benedict or eggs Royale so it’s perfect to have this on our doorstep. High chairs are also available for little ones which was a relief for us.
It’s great to see them active on social media, which makes it easy to keep up to date with news and new items that they have on the menu. Recently they have started introducing new items to their menu, such as draught lager, Guinness and wine which we look forward to trying very soon! This is definitely our new go-to!
